Diversified Woodcrafts, Inc. began in 1975 as a small shop making tables and
mobile labs and has grown to be one of the premier manufacturers of those items
in the school science market.
Our founder, Jeff Christensen, was working for a small company that made glass
test tubes. The science companies that were purchasing test tubes were having
difficulty sourcing hardwood drying racks for test tubes. Christensen decided
to start Diversified Woodcrafts and began producing test tube racks, and other
small science apparatus. The quality of the products was so significant that
companies began requesting Diversified Woodcrafts, Inc. to produce furniture
for the science market.
The company continued to grow and develop a line of science laboratory
furniture. In 1983 the company moved into new facilities that included a plant
with a separate office and warehouse. The company operated out of this facility
until a fire destroyed the manufacturing plant in March of 1995. Due to the
hard work of the employees, the plant was only out of operation a short while
and reopened in temporary facilities four weeks later. The decision was made to
build a new facility with optimal manufacturing layout that would allow the
company to continue at an accelerated growth rate.
In October of 1995 our current facility was opened. Despite being four times
larger than the original plant an expansion was needed in 2000 in order to
facilitate the growth Diversified Woodcrafts, Inc. was experiencing. Further
additions are in the planning stage at this time.
In October of 1997 Diversified Woodcrafts, Inc. was sold to JBC Holding Co. JBC
Holding Co. is a privately held company and has brought about our affiliation
with our sister companies; Shain Shop Bilt and John Boos Company.
In 1999 Diversified Woodcrafts, Inc. entered the casework market and we are
continuing to expand our presence in that market. Today our tables, mobile labs
and workstations can be found in schools, museums, and laboratories throughout
the United States. We are proud of our growth and of the quality products that
we continue to produce.
